Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

My work has cats that are adoptable through our local Humane Society. One of them was having issues with his eye. Over a period of 3 days it went from a little watery to full blown pus and blood dripping out of it. He was removed to be brought to their vet and taken care of.

A few days later I noticed my cat had the same symptoms.. watery eye that was half closed. Uh oh.
I took her to the vet right away because I didn't want her to get to the point of blood dripping out. The vet said it was likely Feline Herpes Virus. It spreads easy by attaching itself to our clothes or shoes even. The cat at my work likely had it and it spread to my cat. The vet said the strain probably mutated as my cat had been vaccinated.

I gave my poor cat herpes :(

The vet gave me some ointment for her eye and recommended L-Lysine for flare ups. So I've been giving her some lysine powder mixed with wet food. She gobbles it down happily. Which brings me to my next point.

She is FAT. Not by much. The vet only told me because I asked if she is a healthy weight or not. He said she is around 2 or 3 lbs overweight. She weighs 10 pounds, so she should be 7 to 8 lbs. Fat kitty.
I'm experimenting with feeding her less. I am gradually reducing it until all of her kibbles are gone by evening. If she has any left over I know she is getting too much. I also switched her to a higher quality food that has no grains. When I give her wet food, its usually just a spoonful mixed with a bunch of water. She goes crazy for it so I will continue doing that.

I've never had a fat cat before..

Fatty needs to keep her fat warm
